RYU is a Japanese photographer who has been photographing gyaru for many years now, including gyaru idol group Black Diamond -from 2000-. We were excited to be able to chat with him and ask him all about his career! Scroll down to read the full interview!

I’ve been photographing as a hobby since 10 years ago, but I started shooting more seriously about 4 years ago.

I met a cute gyaru. I wanted to make her look cool, so I became more serious about my shooting.

I’ve worked with Black Diamond -from 2000-, Yukipoyo, Fujiki Sora, Aikarin, Glamor Dances as well as some hundreds of other.
Working with Black Diamond -from 2000- for their disbandment photobook was an honour. I managed to get some amazing photos.

I publish an electronic photobook on Amazon, as well as I’ve published numerous other photobooks. I also hold photography exhibitions regularly.
